A Letter to the Weary

Updated: Nov 11

Come in, dear Dreamer, come in.

I had so much planned, so much to say for this piece. Yet, I found myself deleting it all. Writers often know that, at times like this, nothing can be said beyond what weighs heavily on our hearts.

The Weight of Our Hearts

You may feel confused. Our hearts are prepared for love, yet they seem distant from their natural state. How can so many hearts feel so far from warmth? When we lead our lives with compassion, it becomes our first inclination. We, the deep feelers, the soft-hearted, often bear the weight of the world most heavily. But don’t despair. We will also be the first to feel the glow of the sun on the horizon when it rises to dispel the darkness once more.

Finding Solace in Nature

In the meantime, let us remember that we are not alone. We can look for the helpers. We can be the helpers. We can, again, turn to the trees. “Do you have what you need? Are you ready for winter? Can I help you?” The poetic rhythms of nature remind us of who we inherently are. We are nature—beauty and grace, ever-changing, each phase serving a purpose. This season of heavy hearts will pass, and we will all be transformed.

Until then, Mother Nature opens her arms to us. She calls to our souls, urging us to find our roots in the Earth, our true home. We are tied to the natural processes we belong to: seasons of change. The instinct within you to reach out to others and ask, “Do you have what you need? Are you ready for this dark season ahead? Can I help you?” is a beautiful reflection of our shared humanity.

Self-Reflection and Care

But don’t just think of asking others. Ask yourself: Are you ready for wintering? What do you need to get through this season? Perhaps a comforting tea habit? A new book to lose yourself in? A media break to recharge your spirit? The strong belief that you are worthy of whatever you choose? Your mother thinks so. The trees think so. I think so. Nature is begging you: see the cycle, embrace the change, and be well.

The weight of the world is surely heavy, but remember, you are strong. Light will inevitably come. That is the way of the seasons.

Embracing the Cycle of Change

Let yourself rest when you’re weary. Embrace the moments of stillness. In those quiet times, we can reflect on our needs and desires. What do you yearn for? What stirs your soul? Perhaps it’s the gentle brush of a paintbrush against canvas, or the soothing sound of a pen gliding across paper. Whatever it is, allow yourself the grace to explore it.

The Importance of Ritual

Rituals can be a soothing balm for our sensitive souls. They ground us, offering a sense of stability amidst chaos. Whether it’s lighting a candle, brewing a cup of herbal tea, or taking a walk in nature, these small acts can create a sanctuary for our spirits. They remind us that we are here, present, and alive.

Connecting with Community

As we navigate these turbulent times, let us also remember the power of community. Reach out to those who resonate with your heart. Share your thoughts, your fears, and your hopes. You may find that others feel the same way. Together, we can create a tapestry of support, woven from our shared experiences and understanding.

The Path Forward

As we move forward, let’s carry the lessons of this season with us. The weight of the world may feel heavy, but it is also a reminder of our capacity for love and empathy. We are all interconnected, and our hearts beat in rhythm with one another.

So, dear Dreamer, take a deep breath. Allow the warmth of the sun to fill your heart. Embrace the changes that come your way. You are not alone in this journey. Together, we can find comfort and expression through art and ritual.

Let us walk this path together, hand in hand, heart to heart.
